Chondrocytes were exposed to an osteoarthritic inducer, resulting in a significant decrease in cell viability and a marked increase in inflammation levels compared to controls, mimicking the conditions of osteoarthritis.
Results showed that GreenDroitin®, compared to other chondroitin tested, provided:

Higher absorption: GreenDroitin® was better absorbed by both intestinal epithelium and chondrocytes

Increased cell viability: GreenDroitin® was able to exert the main effect compared to all other chondroitin forms, increasing cell viability and proliferation

Suppression of inflammatory process: While other tested chondroitin forms were effective in reducing inflammation, they failed to reverse the underlying mechanism. This suggests that they could mitigate adverse effects but not restore damaged tissue. In contrast, GreenDroitin®demonstrated the ability to improve the recovery process by returning ROS production and inflammation levels to baseline, thus restoring damaged tissue
